Award Funds New International Education Collaborations Between Texas Higher Education Institutions With Counterparts Abroad
The Texas International Education Consortium (TIEC) is pleased to announce the 2024 awardees of the Texas International Education Fund (TIEF), a diverse group of 22 new projects and collaborations across 28 higher education institutions. TIEF is a grant program designed to seed new projects and opportunities that bring innovative global experiences to the campuses of any of TIEC’s member universities in Texas and abroad.
The fund is divided into three separate grants. The TIEF COIL Grant supports new virtual international collaborations for undergraduate or graduate students and will award 11 new faculty and staff projects this year. The Study Abroad Program Development Grant is designed to seed new immersive international education opportunities, and TIEC is naming eight new winners. Finally, the TIEF Strategic Internationalization Grant supports initiatives at the university-wide or institutional level to advance the internationalization capacity of our members, and TIEC is proud to support three new winners for 2024.
“At TIEC, we are inspired by the faculty and staff in Texas and around the world who accept the challenge to bring a broader global perspective to their students through international experiences in the classroom,” said Dr. William Smith II, TIEC’s Sr. Director of Global Education and Impact. “We are proud to support the wealth of creativity and cooperation among this year’s Texas International Education Fund winners.”
This year’s awardees range widely across multiple industries and disciplines; including engineering, health sciences, architecture, education, law, anthropology, political science, communications, and more. We are thrilled to support our TIEF 2024 winners and will share more as their collaborations take shape.
The COIL Grant recipients exemplify the power of collaboration and virtual exchange in cultivating cross-cultural understanding and global competence among students. ¡Rumbo al Mundo!
ASU, a multicultural hub, directly serves the community and fosters meaningful relationships across cultural boundaries. International connections enrich the historically homogeneous region with diverse cultures and learning opportunities. The goal of this project is to create and build international partnerships between ASU and Latin America, a region underserved and underrepresented in ASU’s international studies portfolio. International partnerships enhance ASU's integrity by promoting cross-cultural understanding and adherence to global best practices.
