David Gardner

Dr David brings three decades of experience, among which he was Deputy Commissioner of Special Projects and Deputy Commissioner for Academic Planning and Policy.  He led the development of the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board’s extensive data system as well as the development of the state’s first accountability system and the higher education plans, Closing the Gap and 60x30TX. 

Dr. David served on the Texas Workforce Commission’s JET Advisory Board, the Foster Children and Education Committee, and the Texas Space Grant Consortium. He  volunteers as college application coach for Breakthrough Austin and is a board member of Education Reach for Texans.

He began his career as an assistant professor of administration and policy studies at Hofstra University in New York.  He completed his master’s in Educational Psychology and his doctorate in Educational Administration from Texas A&M University,
