Anna Charnitski - Director of Marketing and Communications
Anna Charnitski joined TIEC as the Director of Marketing and Communications in July 2019. Charnitski came to TIEC from the Texas Hospital Association, where she managed marketing and communications content for the 500 member-strong association’s print and digital channels. Prior to that that, she advised Fortune 500 companies on corporate social responsibility, media relations and crisis communications for global public relations firm, Hill+Knowlton Strategies, based in Austin. She relocated to Austin from Washington, DC, in 2014 to oversee strategic communications for The University of Texas at Austin’s Center for Identity, a multidisciplinary research center for privacy and cybersecurity issues.
Before moving to Texas, Charnitski served as a public affairs officer on the public affairs and strategic communications team at the U.S. State Department’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. She oversaw strategic communications for the bureau’s professional, youth, and cultural exchange portfolios, as well as assisted its other programs like Fulbright, private sector exchanges, and congressional communications. She also helped to coordinate the first U.S.-India Higher Education Summit hosted in the United States.
Anna has over ten years experience with public and political communications. In addition to her work with the U.S. State Department, she worked with the Center for International Media Assistance in Washington, DC to organize UNESCO’s World Press Freedom Day in 2011 and served on political campaigns before that. In a former life, Anna was a professional ballet dancer and teacher in South Carolina.
Anna holds a master’s degree in International Media from The American University in Washington, DC, and a bachelor’s degree in French Literature and Political Science from Agnes Scott College in Atlanta.
